Black Excellence: Deion Sanders Head Coach at Jackson State University

By Kia Morgan

After days of is he or isn’t he, Deion Sanders has officially been named head coach of the Jackson State Tigers.

The official announcement came directly from Sanders on his debut podcast, “21st & Prime,” which aired September 20, 2020 on Apple podcast.

“God called me to Jackson State,” Sanders said.

Legendary rapper @snoopdogg laid the track for the intro song on the podcast.

“It’s very big for Jackson State University,” Jackson State athletic director Ashley Robinson said. “Not only for Jackson State University, this is very big for the country right now. Very big for the state of Mississippi. To Coach Prime, Jackson State University—a blue blood program full of Hall of Famers—it’s just a great time.”

Prime Time will finish out his season coaching at Trinity Christian in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Congratulations to Deon “Prime Time” Sanders on this amazing and historical opportunity. I see nothing but greatness coming from this.
